Grant Palmer Ltd is Bedfordshire's family owned bus company. We're locally owned, financially secure and forward thinking. We're looking for experienced and trainee drivers to join our expanding business
Experienced Drivers
We run throughout Bedfordshire, including on the Luton & Dunstable Busway, which pays a premium rate for double deck driving. As a full-time driver, you will work a 4 day week, with a choice of rota and great opportunities for overtime if you want it.
Working full-time over 4 days will give you typical basic earnings of £28,000 per year. With overtime you earn £32,700 (5 day week) or £38,000 (6 day week). The hourly rate is £13.50 per hour. Sunday working is only ever voluntary, paid at £20.25 per hour.
Total meal breaks above 90 minutes are paid on duty. We operate a fixed rota pattern, with small lines allowing you to plan in advance. Our routes are a great mixture of town and country driving across Bedford, Milton Keynes, Hitchin and Biggleswade.

Trainee Drivers
We have now opened up our own Training School and are looking to recruit trainee drivers.
This is a contributory training scheme, but we pay all your training costs up front. Once you're qualified and working with us, you will contribute £75 per month to your training costs, over 3 years. You'll need to sign a contract to repay your training costs if you leave early. If you stay with us, we will repay you £900 at the end of year 4, year 5 and year 6, meaning your training could be totally free.
You will work a 4 day working week, with a choice of rota including the option of a full week off every 3 weeks, and great opportunities for overtime if you want it. After your training is complete, a full-time 37 Working full-time over 4 days will give you typical basic earnings of £28,000 per year.
You would need to have been driving for at least 2 years and be 21+ for insurance purposes. Some commercial driving experience in a van, lorry or small minibus would be a great advantage.
