Fare changes from 27th April 2026 16/04/2026

From Monday 27th April 2026, Grant Palmer will be making changes to fares within the Bedford and Milton Keynes zones. Single fares in these areas will increase to £2.40, with return fares set at £4.80. The weekly ticket within Milton Keynes will be £14.50.

This is the first fare adjustment since the introduction of the £2 fare cap, during which time the business has absorbed significant cost increases. In particular, diesel—accounting for around 20% of operating costs—has risen substantially, adding over £400,000 per year in real terms. In addition, changes to labour costs, including government increases to National Insurance and wider employee-related expenses, have further added to operating pressures.

Despite these changes, customers can still access excellent value by switching to alternative ticket options. A weekly ticket is available for just £20, offering unlimited travel and helping to offset the impact of fare increases. Customers can also benefit from the convenience of tap-on, tap-off fares, where journeys are automatically capped at £20 per week without needing to purchase a ticket in advance. Simply tap on when boarding and tap off when leaving the bus to ensure you receive the best possible fare.

There will be no changes to fares in the Luton, Biggleswade, or Flitwick and Ampthill zones, and network fares will remain unchanged at £3 for a single journey. Weekly tickets and Monthly tickets are unchanged at this time.
