About our Engineering department

Grant Palmer Limited operates a fleet of 40 vehicles from our modern bus depot in Flitwick. We are proud to be an Earned Recognition Operator.

Workshop

Our Flitwick workship is fully equipped, with a range of diagnostic equipment, including emissions and brake testing.  Each of our buses is inspected before the operating day starts, and a regular programme of safety checks and routine maintenance is designed to keep the wheels turning.

Our workshop holds full IRETC accreditation.

Our Team

Our in house engineering team of 6 staff, headed up by Phil Lambert, ensures that we are able to deliver the highest standard of maintenance and safety, exceeding the standards laid out by the Department of Transport.

All of our engineering team hold IRTEC accreditation.

Investment

Since 2015 we have invested over £2.5 million pounds in new vehicles. The majority of our fleet are Alexander Dennis Enviro 200 midibuses, built in Scarborough. Our investment in British built buses allows us to support engineering jobs as well as the supply chain.

Environment

Taking the bus isn’t just better for your health and your wallet, it’s better for the planet too. The vast majority of our fleet is Euro5 and above- allowing us to improve air quality across Bedfordshire. Our latest vehicles are Euro6 diesel- producing ultra low emissions and reliable journeys for our customers. We evaluated an electric support vehicle and electric powered bus in 2021.

Training

We work with IRTEC, DVSA and ADL to provide our engineering team with the latest training. We continue to invest in our staff and have previously supported local apprenticeship schemes.
