Cycle Tour of Britain 31/08/2025

The Cycle Tour of Britain is coming to Bedfordshire on Thursday 4th September.

We will be operating a free shuttle bus service between Flitwick Interchange and Ampthill Great Park for spectators to come to Ampthill and see the race. Additionally we will be offering free bus travel between Flitwick and Ampthill on services 42 and 44.

The race will involve various short term road closures to allow cyclists to pass. Due to the closures we will have to amend our services as below:

34 – The service will be unable to serve Ampthill for the whole of the day, due to the closure of Woburn Road, and will divert via the A507 and can be caught at stops near the 101 Garage / Aldi in Flitwick.

42 – The 11:05am departure from Bedford will be curtailed at Westoning, Toddington and Dunstable will not be served. The 11:34am departure from Dunstable will commence at Westoning at 11:59am. The 1:34pm departure from Dunstable and 2:05pm departure from Bedford will not operate in their entirety.

44 – All journeys from 11am will divert via A507 / A600 to Haynes, then through Cotton End Road to Wilstead. Stops at Clophill Green / Flying Horse, Deadman’s Hill, Haynes West End and Briar Bank Park (Wilstead) will not be served. The diversion will lead to significant delays on this route, which may result in journeys being curtailed at short notice. The 2:30pm departure from Flitwick will also not serve Ampthill and Maulden and will divert via the A507.

68 – This service should not be directly affected.

74 – The 12:40pm and 1:40pm departures from Bedford will divert via Willington and will not serve Cople, Northill or Upper Caldecote. The 11:40am departure from Bedford will be curtailed at Biggleswade and will not continue to Langford, Henlow and Hitchin. The 12:55pm departure from Hitchin will not operate in its entirety.

79 – The 11:56am departure from Luton will operate via A6 bypass to Windsor Parade and on return loops via Bedford Road and A6 bypass and will not serve the centre of Barton-le-Clay.

200 – The 11:40am departure from Flitwick will terminate at Stanford and will not serve Broom or Biggleswade. The 12:40pm departure from Biggleswade will commence at Stanford. Clophill Green will not be served between 11am and 3pm with the service operating between Silsoe and Campton direct along the A507 in both directions of travel.

We strongly advise customers to plan their journey well in advance. Live bus tracking will be available on the Grant Palmer app and our customer services team will be available to help too. We anticipate a higher than average number of calls due to the scale of the disruption, please be patient and where possible use the bus tracker for help.
