Hitchin Street in Biggleswade will be closed from Monday 18th May 2026 due to essential works by Anglian Water. Grant Palmer has worked closely with Anglian Water and Central Bedfordshire Council to agree funding and implement revised routes and timetables during the closure.
Service 74 (from Bedford) will continue to operate its normal route to Biggleswade Bus Station. However, southbound journeys towards Hitchin will divert from the bus station via Shortmead Street, Hill Lane and Gypsy Lane, rejoining the normal line of route at Broom Turn. Service 200 will follow the same diversion. During this time, bus stops along Teal Road and Hitchin Street will not be served, and routes 74 and 200 will not serve Biggleswade Interchange.
A small number of peak time journeys between Biggleswade and Hitchin will now terminate in Langford. Please refer to timetable for details.
Services 189, 190 and 73 will also be affected, as our Biggleswade depot is located on Hitchin Street. While there are no planned timetable changes for these services, some delays may occur due to additional time required for buses to travel between the depot and the start of their routes.
