Busway Closure – Sunday 27th September

Due to planned vegetation works, a section of the Luton–Dunstable Busway between White Lion and Chaul End will be closed in both directions on Sunday 27th September, from 08:00 until 17:00.

During the closure, Hi and Jo services will leave the Busway at Chaul End and divert via Dunstable Road to White Lion Retail Park, before rejoining their normal routes from College Drive.

As a result, the following Busway stops will not be served in either direction: Jeans Way, White Lion Park, Stanton Road and Chaul End.

Please allow extra time for your journey as delays are expected while services use the surrounding road network.

Steppingley Road, Flitwick

From 8th until 13th October, Due to Anglian Water works on Steppingley Road, Service 34 will start and terminate at Flitwick Interchange throughout the works.

Buses will be unable to serve Steppingley Road, Froghall Road or Ampthill Heights, including the stops at Flitwick Leisure Centre.

Passengers should use Flitwick Interchange as the nearest alternative stop where possible.

Gold Lane, Biddenham

Due to the closure of Gold Lane at Biddenham Turn, Services 41 and S1 are unable to operate around the Biddenham loop.

Buses will instead remain on the A4280, using the temporary bus stops provided. No stops around the Biddenham loop will be served during the closure.

We apologise for the inconvenience caused and ask passengers to use the temporary stops on the A4280.

Bedford Road, Wixams

Due to the closure of Bedford Road between Wixams and Wilstead, Service 44 will be diverted via the A6 in both directions.

Buses will operate between the B&M / Wixams Retirement Village area and Wilstead via the A6, and will be unable to serve Wilstead Industrial Park, Dove Lane or Brooklands Avenue.

Passengers who normally use these stops should instead use the stops at B&M, Wixams Retirement Village or Duck End Lane in Wilstead, depending on their direction of travel.

Greyfriars, Bedford service 25 diversion

Due to the ongoing works on Greyfriars, Service 25 is unable to turn right when leaving Bedford Bus Station. Buses will instead turn left onto Greyfriars and divert via Midland Road, Ashburnham Road and Shakespeare Road, before rejoining the normal route at Clapham Road.

During the diversion, Service 25 will not serve stops at Warwick Avenue, Livingstone Primary School or Linden Road on journeys towards Harrold and Oakley. Inbound journeys to Bedford are unaffected. These works are expected until 27th September 2026

Greyfriars, Bedford

Roadworks and temporary traffic lights on Greyfriars are causing significant delays to buses entering and leaving Bedford Bus Station, with delays of 20 minutes or more currently being experienced. The works are expected to remain in place 24 hours a day until Sunday 27 September, so please allow extra time for your journey.

Brooklands Avenue, Wixams

Due to carriageway patching works on Brooklands Avenue, Wixams, Service 44 will operate on diversion between 09:30 and 15:00 from Monday 21st to Wednesday 23rd September 2026.

During these times, Service 44 will divert from the Wixams Retirement Centre stops directly to the A6 for Wilstead in both directions.

Bus stops between Wixams Industrial Park and Wixams Southern Cross will not be served while the closure is in place.

Please allow a little extra time for your journey, as the diversion may cause some delays.

Carlton, High Street

Due to the closure of Carlton High Street from 30th September until 10th November, service 25 will operate a revised route. Buses will operate from Bedford along The Causeway, Turvey Road and turn at the School Lane junction before returning via Turvey Road and The Causeway for Carlton Road for Harrold. Buses from Harrold will operate the same in reverse. 

Bus stops along The Moor and High Street will not be served.

Harlington Upper School, stopping arrangements

Morning – towards Harlington Upper School
Buses will operate via Westoning Road, Church Road, Barton Road and Goswell End Road, dropping students off at the bus stop outside Harlington Upper School. The bus will then continue via Station Road and Toddington Road towards Dunstable.

Afternoon – towards Westoning & Bedford
Buses will pick students up from the bus stop outside Harlington Upper School, before operating via Westoning Road towards Westoning and Bedford.

Campton, gas works

Due to ongoing gas works, Service 200 is currently unable to serve Campton. Unfortunately, there is not enough room for our buses to safely manoeuvre through the works. The works are expected to remain in place until Friday 25th September.

Anglian Water works: Hitchin Street

Hitchin Street, Biggleswade will be closed from 8 June 2026 for works by Anglian Water. This is expected to continue until November 2026.

Route 74 (Bedford – Biggleswade – Hitchin) will operate as normal between Bedford and Biggleswade Bus Station, journeys south of Biggleswade will not serve Biggleswade Railway Station Interchange, Teal Road or stops on Hitchin Street, and will return to normal line of route at Broom Turn. Buses south of Biggleswade will be re-timed, with some running earlier than current times. Some early and late journeys will start or end at Holme Mills and not run through to Biggleswade Bus Station.

Route 200 (Biggleswade – Shefford – Flitwick) will run to usual times, but will not serve Biggleswade Railway Station Interchange, Teal Road or stops on Hitchin Street.
