The UB1 service is operated on behalf of the University of Bedfordshire. It is available to staff, students and permitted visitors to the University.

The service connects Bedford campus with Bedford town centre. You must show your staff ID card, student ID card or University visitor bus pass to use the service.

A full service operates during term time, outside of term time a skeleton service operates. For further information about the service please click here.

Service Updates

UB1 service withdrawn

The following update is provided by The University of Bedfordshire: 

The free shuttle bus service between Bedford train station and the University of Bedfordshire’s Bedford campus will be withdrawn from Monday 1st September 2025.
This decision has not been taken lightly. Following a review of the service, we found that student usage has remained very low, and unfortunately it is no longer viable to continue operating the service.


We understand this may impact some students’ travel plans, so we’re committed to supporting you with alternative options:

Valid for unlimited travel for 7 consecutive days networkwide

Networkwide AM

Valid for unlimited travel for 30 consecutive days networkwide

Bus Spotter

Valid for 1 day for unlimited travel networkwide

Family Network Monthly

Valid for one Adult and up to two children. Not valid for individual travel for under 16s. Adults may travel individually. Valid for unlimited travel for 30 consecutive days networkwide.
