Houghton Conquest

Due to a closure on The Grove in Houghton Conquest, the 42 Service will be diverting through The Broadway and Bedford Road. Unfortunately Houghton Conquest Post Office and the Church is unable to be served. Mill Lane and the Broadway stops will be in service during this time. We apologise for the inconvenience caused.

Grange Lane Cople, Cardington

Grange Lane, Cople is closed. The 74 service will be diverting through Willington Road and Bedford Road. Cardington is unable to be served during this time.

UB1 service withdrawn

The following update is provided by The University of Bedfordshire: 

The free shuttle bus service between Bedford train station and the University of Bedfordshire’s Bedford campus will be withdrawn from Monday 1st September 2025.
This decision has not been taken lightly. Following a review of the service, we found that student usage has remained very low, and unfortunately it is no longer viable to continue operating the service.

We understand this may impact some students’ travel plans, so we’re committed to supporting you with alternative options:

Biggleswade High Street Closure

Biggleswade High Street will be closed from 09:00 until 15:30 from 11th until 13th August. Buses will divert as below

Service 72/73/190 to Biggleswade Bus Station

Buses from London Road will divert via Chestnut Avenue, Crab Lane, Sun Street, Shortmead Street and High Street to Bus Station

Service 72/73 to Bedford and Service 190 to Potton & Sandy 

Buses will serve Bus Station before diverting via Shortmead Street and Church Street to rejoin normal route from High Street

Services 74 and 200 are unaffected and will operate as normal

The Men's British Cycling Tour is coming to Bedfordshire on 4th September 2025. During this time there will be disruption to our services. 

Woburn Road will be closed from 05:00 until 18:30. During this time service 34 is unable to serve Ampthill. Buses will operate from Flitwick to the A507. Customers are advised to use bus stops in Flitwick at the 101 Garage

B530 reopens

From Saturday 25th July 2025 the B530 will reopen to traffic and service 42 will resume its normal route. Thank you for your patience during the closure

Minor timetable change to service 42

From Monday 28th July 2025, service 42 will revert to its normal weekday timetable. There are changes to two journeys a day: The 0720 from Flitwick will now run ten minutes earlier throughout and the 1930 from Bedford will now run five minutes later throughout at 1935. 

The 1930 journey from Bedford on Saturdays will now operate at 1935

Austin Road, Luton

Due to roadworks on the A6 at the Austin Road junction we are unable to serve stops along Austin Road or Culverhouse Road towards Luton. Journeys towards Weybourne Drive are unaffected

St Paul's Square Closure

St Paul's Square inbound to Bedford Bus Station will be closed during the school holidays to facilitate repairs to the drainage and services. During this time our buses will operate inbound to Bedford via Midland Road and Prebend Street. Stops at St Paul's Square inbound and Bedford College will not be served. Buses outbound will not be affected and will pick up from the normal stops at St Paul's Square
